Travelling abroad

You don’t always need vaccinations to travel abroad. If you do, the recommended vaccinations will vary, depending on:

  • which country you’re visiting and, in some cases, which part of the country,
  • the season or time of year when you’ll be travelling, for example, the rainy season,
  • whether you’ll be staying in a rural area or an urban or developed area,
  • what you’ll be doing during your stay, such as working in or visiting rural areas,
  • how long you’ll be staying, and
  • your age and health.

To check whether or not you require any vaccinations for your holiday destination please download the Holiday Vaccination form and return it to the practice at least 6 weeks before you travel.  One of our nurses will review your medical records together with the current travel requirements for your destination to assess if any vaccinations are required.  Please contact the practice 4 – 5 weeks prior to travelling.  The receptionist will be able to provide you with the information and book an appointment if necessary.

Please note we do not offer vaccinations against Yellow Fever however it is available from Birley Health Centre.  Please contact Birley Health Centre on 0845 122 1881 for details.
